People Who Enjoy Conflict

Some bloggers seem to thrive on conflict, and if they can't drum up a good argument on their own blog, they take their big wooden spoon and try to stir it up in comments elsewhere.

Are their real lives so dull that this is the only way they can get a little excitement?

Does it supply their hit of the hormones released by conflict and drama?

Does it make them feel important?

Biting my tongue not to say more.   Grump over.

Normal service will be resumed later.

  1. Oh dear. Have a cuppa. Or a walk. Or make some soup. We love you. But grumping is allowed when one is provoked!

    1. A good session of bread making (always made with love, not angst), followed by a long walk with Toby has cleared my head and made me see the sunshine, shadows are banished.

  2. I don't understand why some people have to be nasty and stir things up. What do they get out of it, I wonder?

    1. Hello Sooze, They come across like spoilt, tired, children, spreading their misery and woe. One feels sympathy, up to a point. Actually, they make me think of the older of my two cats, when she is grumpy she either jumps on the younger cat and picks a fight, or takes a swipe at the dog, just to make herself feel better!!

  3. Best way to deal with those type of folk is to ignore them, when they don't get a response they leave ell alone. Great photo...

  4. Catching up on reading and your quiche recipe yesterday reminded me I used to make carrot and walnut which was nice - I had completely forgotten.

Must have missed out on bloggers stirring up trouble - thankfully!

    1. It was delicious - healthy and nutritious, made me feel very virtuous, until I ate a chocolate chip cookie. Roll on summer when we can eat the garden!

  5. I think you are right, some people thrive on it, that and illness. I've noticed that if I occasionally write about illness of some kind or other I seem to get more comments, lol
We have neighbours who have been arguing for over 30 years, how's that? Why on earth they stay together is beyond me.

    1. I hope you can't hear them going hammer and tongs, Briony! By the way, I am in awe of you and your husband, managing to move those mattresses - not an easy job, some of those comments made me laugh!
I hope you are sleeping better now.

    1. They were heading into Owl Wood to have a battle! No grandchildren, or chickens, were harmed. Honest!

  7. At times, I'm guilty as charged. I admit, sometimes I get rilllllllled up, and before I calm myself down, I have "shot off my mouth," somewhere or other.

We all have a right to speak our mind. But we also, have a duty-to-wo(man)kind, to chose well, where we do so.

There are plenty of *Discussion* places. (*Discussion* being the code word, for Argument) >,-)

But The Pretty Blog Land, which most of us inhabit, is not one of them. We choose Pretty Blog Land Posts, for safety from the "Woes Of The World." And we have a perfect right, to do so.

We can't make others, change. But we can simply go away.

Or offer them a lovely piece of cake, as you do at times, when comments get testy. ,-)))))))

Good for you, for posting this!!!! It has been festering in your mind, and needed to "get out." Our blogs are for that, also. Not just for pretty-pretty. We can vent a bit, now and then. It is fully human.

    Hugs Dear....

    1. Apologies if this made you feel guilty, it was not directed at you at all. It was a reaction to some comments which I read in blog world this morning.

To the best of my knowledge, the people I was talking about don't follow this blog, thank goodness. They do, however, follow some of the blogs which I also follow, so I catch sight of some of their comments.

Blog Land doesn't necessarily all have to be pretty, after all, we can't always agree with everything and everyone. We all have different opinions and life experiences, and sometimes posts which make us stop and think about things can be quite illuminating!

I should have brought out the baking bowls a little earlier, taken Toby out for a long walk instead of reading blogs and comments. That'll teach me! Life is good, I am happy. It is half-term here, so that means the grandchildren are home from school all week - which means lots of little visits from them throughout the day - and goodness do they get hungry. Just as well their Gran keeps the cake tins filled, for they seem to have hollow legs.

    2. Oh gracious, no apologies!!!!!!!!!!

We all get bogged down in "stuff," we know we should not get bogged down in, at times. We are human, after all.

      Hugs....

  8. How strange. I am in the process of writing about this very subject. I think the style of modern day conversation is copied from TV, in particular the soaps, where an entire cast shouts at each other even though it's normal conversation. Females are the worst. It is a long time since I heard softly spoken words and it has put me off watching television altogether.

    1. Sounds like I have had a lucky escape, I haven't watched any soaps for at least the last decade, possibly longer. Phew! I look forward to reading your thoughts on the subject.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your 'Chicken Fingers' dog tales. Each chapter has held my attention, enjoying the happenings, but feeling fearful that terrible may happen; thank goodness it has all worked out so far. You know how to build suspense!

    2. Thanks for reading the tales, Elaine. Hope you continue to enjoy the series.

  9. I love the term pretty blogland and realize I am reading blogs from across the pond (I am in the usa) more and more. There is so much incivility and as you say stirring the pot out there in all media that we sometimes want to just hide out. I love your words, your philosophy and your beautiful photography. It is much colder where I live and the flowers seem to be about a month behind you. Thank you for the invitation to accompany you on your walks. They are truly a respite for any soul.

    1. Hello Elaine, Please feel welcome to pull up a chair and have a quiet read or put on your walking boots and come along on one of my walks. Everything is centred around life in this very quiet Lincolnshire village. I can't promise anything wildly exciting, but I do try to tease out a few strands which may be of interest. I hope you find something to enjoy.

  10. There are so many unhappy people. Unfortunately, they feel they must spread the gloom. It's the good/bad part of the Ethernet and social media. Civility, manners and compassion seem to have taken a back seat to bad behavior. Have a cup of tea, take a deep breath and know that you have friends here.

    1. Thank you, Susan. The restorative powers of a good cup of tea!
I tried out a new (to me) bread recipe today; it made two loaves, so I gave one to my younger son when he visited. He enjoyed it so much that he came back for the recipe. I reckon that makes it a really good day - he is very picky about bread.

  12. Just this evening reading this. Spent the day with youngest granddaughter today. I must have my head in the sand or in the clouds or just not getting around to where the controversies are being stirred. Thank heavens for that. Glad to read you feel better after baking.

    1. Spending time with grandchildren is much more valuable than time spent in the land of blog.
I tried a new bread recipe, it turned out better than I had hoped, happiness in the kitchen!

  13. Well, I should say we have come to the part of living where some folks don't know or don't care about the weight of their words. We see that constantly with the nasty barbs and tit for tat on fakebook and other social media. That is why I will never be a part of any of it. I do however enjoy the blog world, and am grateful that blogs let us participate in conversations, as we feel like we know you after reading about your days and opinions for many months. So, on that note, Thanks for sharing, and I couldn't agree more!

    1. Thank you, wyomingheart! Your words, and your visits, are very much appreciated.

It is 8 or 9 years now, since I started my first blog, so I guess you could say that I enjoy it! My original blog was begun as a way of keeping my youngest son updated on life at home, during his years in China. He came home after a few years, the blogs continued!
