Sad! Very Sad! Meloncoly!!! Letters from a Girl, 2

This morning's letter from my eight year old granddaughter.   😢

To Granny,
Parents evenings have been cancelled because of Coronavirus all all training clubs cancelled.   50 people have now died from corona.
I'm worried.
SAD!
VERY SAD!
MELANCHOLY!!!

No need for me to play amateur psychologist here, the worry is plain to see.

    1. Hello Ann, I am so glad that we established this letter-writing system, much better to know what she is feeling, then at least I can try to help. (It fair broke my heart when I read it though.)

  2. That’s exactly what I thought... Bless her! Will their daily visits, brekkies and teas now have to stop for fear of the old folk’s health? Oops! It sort of won’t be the same FaceTiming across the garden...

    1. Hello Lettice, We have a system - a very complicated system. It involves walkie-talkies, letters and postcards, a plague-stone...or our version of one! We also see them outdoors, just with a couple of yards separation maintained. There is a weak link in all this - me. Yesterday when she received a naughty big brotherly 'punch' on her arm, I did break the rule and rushed in to hug and sort things out.

    1. She is normally pretty good with her writing and spelling, I regard her very creative variations as signs of the stress she is feeling. I am working on my reply to her, plus her parents need to know how she is feeling so that they can also do their bit to acknowledge and reassure.

  4. Oh Elaine - that must have brought tears to your eyes. I have no grandchildren yet, but a daughter at home with us and her brother and sister living in busy cities . . . I hope you can reassure her.

    1. I have done my best, BB. I have had a chat, reassured, then tried to give her a little control over those things which she can control, and put the rest into perspective. It is a tricky balancing act!

  5. Oh my goodness. You just never know how much they understand and worry. So good that now you do know you will be able to help.

  6. I feel sorry for the young people as well as the old, it is scary for them. Of course I'm only 47reversed, lol

    1. Hello Joanne, I am extremely glad she wrote about it, much better than bottling it up inside. I hope all is well with you, Joanne. Sending my best wishes.

  8. I borrowed your idea. I wrote to my three granddaughters (6, 3.5 & 2.5) so we can be pen pals. For the younger two I called in picture pals since they can't write. I figure it will give them something special to do each time they get a letter from me. The three letters went into the mail today.

    1. Hello Marcia, They will love those 'letters' from their Grandma. As we have said previously, there is something special about receiving a piece of mail through the post. Best wishes.

  10. What a dear girl. Children are having lots of changes to process at the moment. I'm glad you still get to see your grandchildren, albeit it from a distance. X

  11. It is such a difficult time for children, so much is happening which must be so bewildering to them. How lucky she is to have such a caring and thoughtful grandmother.
