Over the Garden Gate

I have a busy day ahead of me.   However, there is just enough time for a bit of a gossip, 'over the garden gate'.

I met the new neighbour, she is very nice indeed.  So are her animals.   This is just two of her four beautiful dogs.

As you know, I don't use real names on this blog, so I'll call their owner 'Arabella'.   Now let's hope I don't do this by mistake, next time I meet her!

Arabella is an excellent horsewoman, she used to compete at a very high level.   Her beloved horses are 'Lady' (for blogging purposes) and

this one is 'Sir'.

I was a little perplexed by small bundles of animal hair which I kept finding in Owl Wood.   I began to think that murder was being committed there,  on a nightly basis.

Eventually it dawned on me, birds are stealing the hair which comes out when Lady is groomed.   I imagine it makes for a very cosy nest lining!   Mystery solved, thank goodness.

  1. And what kind of dogs are those gossipy neighbours? Some type of Setter-mix? I think they wi enjoy having you as a neighbour, too. Looks very warm and cozy your way. I live to see green again.

    1. Hello Deb, Aren't they just beautiful! I have no idea what breed they are - big, handsome and friendly will do for me. I hope that snow is clearing away, ready for your Easter egg hunt!

    1. Hello Luna, You are right, those Jackdaws are very intelligent. I don't begrudge them their cosy lodgings in the owl box - finders keepers and all that!
It is wonderful having Poppy home again, she really brings a touch of magic to the place with her energy and enthusiasm. I hope you have a great week.

    1. Hello Henny Penny, Her first thoughts are to make the environment safe for all her animals and she is having a lot of fencing and clearing work done. She also has a great sense of humour, I think she is going to be a good neighbour!

  4. We have tall decorative grass in our yard and I've been watching the birds come and break pieces off for their nests. Sometimes I'll throw dryer lint outside for them or some pet hair. Crows make the best nests I've heard. They love shiny things. : ) Beautiful dogs and horses. : ) Have a wonderful weekend!! xo

    1. Hello Wendy, It's just as well I don't have many diamonds! The jackdaws are very much in residence now - the good news is that this pair seem to be much less noisy than the ones we had a couple of years ago, they really kicked up a racket with their constant conversation! Have a good week.

    1. Hello Margaret, The crow family are reckoned to be intelligent. As I sit here typing, I can see the 'owl' box with the jackdaws coming and going, big birds but much quieter than the previous pair.

    1. Hello Kristin, Your cow neighbours are wonderful - especially that little black calf with the white face! It is so good to have animals nearby again, the paddock looks as it should do again.
