Boring Posts

Do you ever run out of things to post about?
I don't.
I run out of time, occasionally, but that is about all.

The trouble is, I fall into that trap of wondering whether what I want to write about will interest readers of my blog.

A big mistake.

One I must rectify.

I am happy that so many of you call in for a read
and
leave comments
but
I need to get back to my mutterings about books, baking,
my home, family and village life...

No change there, then, you may say
and I couldn't blame you.

I know what I mean though.

  1. I know what you mean too. Carry on muttering - it's always worth reading!

  2. I like the fact that we are all so interested in each others lives - and that the same thing appeals to people no matter where they are.

  5. My Rule of blogging... :-)

I consider blogging, to be the present day version, of chatting over the back fence with a neighbor. Some of us are still able to do that. But many, many, many others, do not have that ability, any more.

But everyone has that fun, with blogging!!!!

When you go to chat, over the back fence, you don't search for great topics, to talk about! You go talk. It flows.

To me, this is the fail-safe way, to look at blogging. Removes all the possible pressure, to be *terribly* witty, or full of *knowledge*, or have a *super-duper* personal happening, to talk about. Etc. Etc.

    Just sayin'........ :-)))))

  6. I enjoy reading your mutterings immensely. Me, I'm reticent to share day to day trials, joys, humdrum. Maybe I should follow your lead more or maybe not.

  8. I do when I am tired. Sometimes I do a post I really enjoyed writing - and no-one replies! Mostly I just witter on and that seems to suit everyone. I think wisps has it right . . . so keep muttering!

  9. I really do appreciate your comments and thoughts. Most of the change will be within me; I shall put away my 'party frock' for a start, that feeling that I have guests who need to be entertained. You all know me by now, I have a butterfly mind, I enjoy small things in life. I shall stop fretting that those small things shouldn't be written about; they interest me, so that is fine.

Sorry about all this. It came about because, several times, I found myself hesitating to write about thoughts/information which I find interesting. Quite often I enjoy revisiting thoughts/places/ideas - to tease out the strands, find new avenues to explore and this usually involves a book somewhere along the line.

    Thank you, everyone.

  11. Oh Elaine,

PLEASE don't fret about these things. I don't always read the comments others write about your posts, but I have yet to read one that complains about your topics, writing style, or anything else. I certainly have no such complaint. I think your blog posts are always well written and interesting, and hence, do not demand alteration.

As others have commented, please continue writing the way you've been writing. If you feel a need to change, don't do it for your readers (who appear to be quite content). And don't get discouraged if some of us (me, specifically) do not comment on a particular post. It may very well be we're caught up in life, too, and do not have time to put our appreciation of your blog in words. Maybe that shouldn't happen, but as Longfellow wrote, "Life is real."

Thank you, again, for your interesting, well-written posts, your thoughts, ideas, descriptions of even small events (e.g. interaction with your grandchildren). Thank you for the history (i.e. "Miss Read") you write about. Thank you for your photos (some of us live on the other side of the Atlantic, and do not have opportunity to see rural England, except as depicted in photographs). Thank you for a peek into Owl Wood, your kitchen, garden, and active life.

In summary, thank you, thank you. Your readers appreciate your blog!

  12. Kate and Brett, Thank you for your much appreciated comments! I really wasn't fishing for praise, but thank you.
Don't worry, I don't have any desire for mega-stardom, or hundreds of comments. It was simply that I found myself hesitating about doing some posts - and fell into wondering why? On examination, I realised that I had gradually slipped into coming at blogging from a different angle, one which made me slightly uncomfortable. It was a small blip, I just needed to get back on track.

This blog really is all about my life and interests, life in a very small English village and an exploration of some of the many books which I enjoy reading. I am more than happy to share it with everyone and I most definitely don't expect comments all the time, nice though they are.

Normal service will be resumed soon!

  13. I read all of your posts but forget to comment! I was planting strawberry plants and digging out violets to replant elsewhere...they love our soil and grow EVERYWHERE!!! Also dug out chocolate mint that got out of a pot, to plant around the barn and chicken coop, as I was told rodents don't like mint....
Love your photos....one of these days I need to do more photography and art, but too busy outdoors with gardens and animals!!

    1. Hello Lynda, Absolutely no need to comment, I promise. I am delighted that you visit. I wish I had known about the rats aversion to chocolate mint, when we had the hens; I hope it works. It sounds like you have a very busy and productive life!
