Rambling

I enjoy my own company, rarely seek out the company of others and am quite happy to do my own thing while others gather together and party.      They can enjoy being the life and soul of a party, the centre of attention -  and here, take my share as well, I don't want it.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a shy and retiring violet.    However, I have never understood this constant need to chatter, chatter.    I find it tedious and tiring.

Dress up for a fancy party?  Go shopping with friends?   Don wellingtons and take a wet and muddy walk with the dog?

No contest!

We head out across the fields in blissful silence.

We roam.   He is free to exercise his nose and my thoughts are free to ramble.

I am rambling today, and I haven't left the house yet.

We have house guests.

  1. ‘House guests?’ A quaint expression, one I fully expect from you Elaine. My thoughts... Mice?

  3. Neither do I, enjoy those "Usual Feminine Choices." ,-) "Ladies who lunch"... "Shopping Therapy"... "Parrrrrty".... Nope!

Hope your 'House Guests' are of the 2 legged variety. Not of the 4 legged...

Actually I don't care for either.

There! I am showing how totally un-social I am. >,-)))))

  4. It's reassuring to know that I am not the only one who prefers gardening, walking and mooching around at home rather than partying and shopping. I am very anti-social most of the time.

    1. Who knows, we may be mooching around the same Lincolnshire Wolds one of these days!

  5. I totally agree. I like seeing friends but then I like to get home and be quiet. I'm not keen on parties or shopping.

  6. I enjoy being alone too. That's one reason it has been hard for me to adjust to my husband retiring and being underfoot every day. :) I need alone time to think and plan and move furniture around. Oh my gosh, you live in such a beautiful place!!

    1. I went through that a few years ago Henny. It takes quite a bit of adjustment and a few long walks! Lots of people think Lincolnshire is flat, they ae surprised at the beauty of The Wolds.

  7. By the way, how can I follow your blog without using Google+. Google+ totally confuses me. Thanks. :)

    1. There is a regular follow button, but the way I normally follow blogs is from the reading list page - 'blogs I follow' add the blog and click follow - I think!! (I know what you mean about Google+!)

  8. I love my friends and spent yesterday lunching, walking and window shopping with my best friend - but it was a choice and I had a lovely day - but it's not something that I want or need to do everyday. I'm quite happy with my own company and need down time away from people in order to recharge.
I had one friend who couldn't go 30 seconds without saying something - she just couldn't seem to stand silence - of any form. Drove me mad!
Is that really your home - IT'S GORGEOUS!!!!

    1. My ears ache after a while! The thatched cottage is gorgeous, my own home is an old stable, cow and cart shed...far less glamorous, sorry!

    1. That was grandson no 1 about 7 years ago - he still loves to walk the fields with his gran and the dog - quietly.
I hope boredom and frustration don't loom large today, Joanne. At the very least I hope you are offered a shower and a toothbrush, even if the floorshow is extra!

  10. Your home looks like it's right out of a fairy-tale; absolutely lovely.
I like a little of both, alone time and friend/family time. But I must admit since moving to the country I love my quiet days and yearn for more of them.

    1. Sorry, Deb, I can't claim the cottage to be mine. I live in a converted old farm building which used to house the horses, cows and carts. I know my place! How is that house building going?

  11. Oh, how I agree with you. Yet the more gregarious find it very anti-social; and are prepared to tell me as much. I refuse to change.

  12. Best way to walk is in scilence taking in the surroundings
