My cousin (I was her bridesmaid) has lived in New Zealand for well over 50 years. We regularly keep in touch and I would love to visit her sometime. Never know - could meet up with Mr Rayburn.
Who'd have thought it? Hope it didn't go air mail!!!
Talking of post, MANY thanks for your lovely parcel of silk remnants, which I will pass on to my patchwork teacher to make good use of. Thank you SO much.
Absolutely amazing that the rayburn is going to the other side of the world. Something old and treasured, antique? They must have something similar there but maybe not with that olde worlde veneer. Must be costing them a bomb! I'm sure the kiwis will give it a good home
Hello Linda, The Rayburn was only 12 years old, but it was in excellent condition. Someone should be happy with their purchase, when it eventually reaches them. I love the idea that it is travelling over there, much more fun than it going to some places I could think of.

ReplyDeleteI hope you do take that trip to New Zealand to visit your cousin, what fun that would be, Molly! A wonderful adventure.

Goodness, that was quick! I had the opportunity to pop into Louth, so it was rather hastily bundled together, I hope they will be of some use to her.
DeleteIt seems mind-boggling to send a Rayburn all that way, but it seems there is a demand for them.
Did you give him, a send-off party?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteBalloons and streamers and some champagne?
No, I just took a couple of photographs and felt a little sad.
DeleteWhen I read your header I thought you were heading down here. Pity - perhaps we could have met up.
ReplyDeleteI would have enjoyed that. Perhaps one of these days!
DeleteI hope he is not refurbished to the nines. He should arrive looking loved and competent!
ReplyDeleteHe was in very good condition, enamel work perfect and polished - my farewell gift to him!
DeleteGood grief, that's a long trip for a Rayburn!
ReplyDeleteSeems crazy, but they are in demand!
DeleteWow, who knew a Rayburn would be so well travelled.
ReplyDeleteI know, lucky Rayburn!
DeleteThat's exciting! Maybe you can arrange a visit? :)
ReplyDeleteNew Zealand has always held an attraction to me, so possibly, one day.
DeleteWell, that's amazing.
ReplyDeleteWe were certainly surprised!
