A Wild Night of Passion and Games

Upon checking my online banking this morning, I discovered that although I thought I had been tucked up in my bed all night, according to my bank statement I had spent the night in a Hilton Hotel, viewed 'Sexy Steph' twice, played countless online games and paid for some 'beauty' treatments, amongst other things.  I spent a small fortune while I was at it.

Who would have thought it?

Some little thief had managed to get my details.  I don't know how, for I am extremely careful, mistrust almost everyone, never give out my details, loan my card, or hand out my pin.  I can only think that one of my trusted sites has been hacked.

James at the fraud department was very helpful indeed.

My card has been cancelled, transactions stopped.

Now, while I wait for my replacement card, I just have the task of changing passwords, and all the nonsense that goes with these events.  Grrrr.

  1. Your secret life is no longer secret!! Thank goodness you picked it up quickly and the banks sort it out without fuss and give your money back.
It happened to us a few years ago only our hacker hadn't got such expensive tastes. Damn them. It really is a nuisance.

    1. Rumbled! I am just thankful that we check the accounts every morning - tedious, but necessary these days. Of course it just so happened that today I was going out shopping with a friend I hadn't seen since before Christmas. We still went out but the shine had gone from the day; then we had coffee and cake and put the world to rights.

  2. Oh no what a horrible thing to happen. So much hassle and worry until it's all sorted

    1. It is mostly sorted now, Sue. Computers have been virus and malware checked, passwords changed, etc. Hours of worry and work but it had to be done.

    1. Hello gz, It is such a habit that eating my bowl of porridge would not feel right without that quick online check. I imagine those fraud departments are kept pretty busy.

  4. Someone cloned my card and used it to buy a laptop. The next day they tried to buy another one and my credit card company smelt a rat and blocked the transaction. This was before I used the card for online transactions so I didn't have all the annoying faff that you have had today. The details must have been skimmed when I was using it out and about. Since then I have always carried it in a blocking wallet.

    1. Hello Tracy, Sorry to hear that you suffered a similar problem but, thank you for the information. I will certainly look into getting one of those wallets, an extra layer of protection won't go amiss. Trouble is that it makes one feel vulnerable. I rather think I will need to listen to my 'De-Stress' Hypnosis disc tonight!

  5. Gadzooks, Nanny did mention that life outside the nursery would be... difficult.

My debit card was hacked some years ago while I was on holiday in Scotland, shooting wild bagpipe and haggis on grandmother's estate. Some kind soul used it to pay some eight hundred quid in tolls to travel the Tokyo ring-road. The bank cancelled my card and allowed the fake to continue... in Japan. I discovered this after I'd filled my car with Scottish petrol and then went into the McKiosk to pay, whereupon the hairy great lady with a face like a bag of spanners at the till used her tooth to tear my card in two, leaving me with no way of paying for the fuel. Banks are not the most intelligent of creatures.

p.s., is Steph still doing that dance with the six teacloths and the small Chihuahua?

  6. Hello Bro Minor, Rough shooting on Granny's estate - Happy days!
Did the kiosk woman call the local 'polis' or did you have to trade your Rolex/work off the debt?
    Will email you tomorrow.

Really good to hear from you, I was beginning to worry (thought about emailing but didn't want to intrude). I hope you are well. Best wishes.

    1. All sorted, just waiting for my new card. Trouble is that I have been floored by a migraine since then, can't think why!

  9. I have to admit that is a fear we always get the someone hacks our account, admittedly we don't do online banking so rely on them letting us know if a problem occurs
